Walsh Communications is delighted to announce a new acquisition by Michael Murphy
November 2008
Walsh Communications is delighted to announce that we have recently taken on Michael Murphy as a literary client. Michael, who is best known as one of Ireland's most-loved voices, having previously read the news for RTE for nearly 30 years, has written a book called At Five in the Afternoon, detailing his experience with Prostate Cancer. The book is a remarkable account of his life growing up, his time in RTE and his heart-aching battle with cancer. Michael read out some chapters of the book on air and received an incredible response. This is a truly phenomenal book and one that has, even before publication, touched thousands of people and Walsh Communications are very proud to be part of Michael's journey.
On Thursday 13th November Michael did an interview with Derek Mooney on the Mooney show on RTE One. He talked about his experience of cancer, opened up about how it has physically, mentally and emotionally affected him and broke down some of the limiting taboos that surround this sensitive issue. People from all over the country rang into the show to say how much they loved hearing his story and how glad they were that the topic was finally being discussed. He was commended for his bravery and honesty in literally hundreds of texts, calls and emails, and producers at the show have since revealed that the response to his interview was the highest ever response to any topic in the show's history.
At Five in the Afternoon has not been published yet but we are confident the right publisher will be found shortly, in the meantime, if you would like us to keep you up to date with news of the book's progress and Michael's news please click here - an email will open up, type 'Michael Murphy' into the subject line and send the email, you will then be added to the mailing list for news and updates on Michael and the book.
Michael Murphy and Walsh Communications would like to gratefully thank all at the Mooney show for their kindness, sensitivity, and support.
