Melissa Hill signs massive six figure publishing deal with Hodder Headline

March 2008
Number One bestselling Irish author, Melissa Hill, whose latest book 'All Because of You' is currently riding high in the Irish and UK bestseller lists, has signed an incredible six-figure deal with UK publishers Hodder for a highly anticipated new novel entitled 'Before I Forget'. This exciting new publishing deal, which is the talk of the publishing industry in both Ireland and the UK, is guaranteed to propel Hill into the big league alongside her contemporaries Patricia Scanlan and Marian Keyes.
The outline for the book, which sparked a major bidding war amongst a number of UK publishers desperate to secure the rights, is about a woman who, following a head injury, discovers she will lose her long-term memory within the year. In order to try and halt the decline, she makes a list and sets out to do all the things in life she's always wanted to do, and bombard her memory with the most unforgettable experiences life has to offer: like spending a magical Christmas Eve in Manhattan, gambling a small fortune in Vegas, gazing at the Northern Lights in Alaska, swimming with dolphins in the Caribbean, and experiencing a haunting Puccini opera at the Arena di Verona. But will these experiences be unforgettable enough?
The proposal for 'Before I Forget', which was sold to Hodder by Hill's agent Sheila Crowley of London-based literary agency AP Watt, has also attracted considerable interest from Hollywood film agents, with early interest from more than one company suggesting that a further bidding war may be on its way for the film rights of the book by this incredibly successful young Irish woman. In anticipation of the publication of 'Before I Forget' Hodder have already started plans for a massive international marketing and advertising campaign for the title which is set for publication in Ireland, Australia and New Zealand in early 2008, and UK and the rest of the world in 2009.
